GENIN is proud to present THE NEW BEAT No1 at The Cross Kings this coming Friday 5th February 2010. The first GENIN night of the year will be showcasing an eclectic bill of the weird and wonderful, an alternative to the alternative, a shot across the bows of ‘rock’ music as we know and have become comfortable with. The night will feature performances from Solar Flares, Arficeden, Tessellators and Djevara.

Happy New Year. 2010 has started with a flurry of activity and excitement in London’s burgeoning alternative DIY underground, with a number of nights and venues putting on some shows well worth checking out. Without further ado, here’s a very quick (and not necessarily comprehensive) round-up of some awesome stuff happening.
RIP THIS JOINT! - Set in the basement of The Constitution in Camden, this night plays host to some of the most intimate, most eclectic and startlingly high quality DIY nights in town for the bargain price of £2. Always worth going.
END OF RADIO - Set up by a couple of members of One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong and Orders Of The British Empire, the line-ups are not always consisting of bands with ridiculously long names - expect every type of progressive or post-rock outfit at their deliciously cosy, vibey nights at The Jester (downstairs @ The Cross Kings, 126 York Way).
ROTTEN LUCK - Putting on free shows at Deptford’s place of choice - The Bird’s Nest as well as The Grosvenor, these shows are always passionate and visceral affairs. South London fights back
LI GRAND ZOMBI - New nights just started at the Unicorn and Scar Studios in Camden
… and many more. It is recommended to check out myspace.com/londontransmission which always has listings of a plethora of fantastic live music

Just a reminder about our excellent event at 333 Basement this Thursday! A rare live performance from one of the most talented bands I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing - PIGSHACKLE, plus (hopefully) the tentative debut of Cochon D’Inde (who you may find strangely familiar…), and exciting enigmatic sets expected from Wild Dogs Of Winter and In Case Of Moon Disaster. Great times ahead!
Remember: bring your old tickets for discount entry, and all members of Genin-related or bands that have performed at GENIN LIVES! before get in for £2.
